Narrative
I do not believe that it has been proven that Mahala was a McMillian.
The slaves sold at John McMillan's estate sale were bought by Mahala Halsey, Mary Dixon, William McMillan and Matilda Dickson. We know William and Mary were John's offspring, as they were named in the will. Also Caswell Halsey, Mahala's husband, was mentioned. We know that there were other daughters from the census; I think this is evidence that Matilda and Mahala were two of them.
