Narrative
FRANCIS MARION STURGILL was born in Ashe Co. NC where he and his wife Orpha Testerman made their first home. They Later moved to Grayson Co. VA near Konnarock where he became active in the lumber business for several years. He served as a deputy Sheriff in Grayson Co. and was active in other community affairs. Both were buried in the Zion Hill cemetery on Helton Creek in Ashe Co. - pg 120
Census records from 1880 show Orpha and the first five children in Helton township, Ashe Co. NC. 1900 Census shows 'Marion' and four children, including Berdie, in Virginia and lists all as born in Virginia. -THS
